Snow again!? Our upcoming schedule.

So, I guess the design gods don't want us to meet anytime soon.

I am sure you have all heard no class again today due to snow. Well, I have more bad news...
I have a flight to a speaking engagement in Louisiana at 1:30pm on Thursday 2/28 so we wont have class on Thursday 2/28 either! I know bananas.

So I want to introduce a new assignment and discuss what all you will need for the next time we meet on Tuesday 3/5.


1. All that was meant to be due today. So your cookbook spread completed with all food illustrations and support type and layout. No excuses, and really strong work.

2. For 3/5 bring black ink, simple paint brushes, ink pens (nice and even basic basic writing pens) and other objects you feel comfortable drawing with in class. As I said starting 3/5 we will be moving into ink.

3. A new assignment also due 3/5.
It is as follows:

As we leave color pencils and start to draw and spend a lot of time with ink I want you to combine the two. I want a series of 3 illustrations using ink and color pencils together. Think about how this can be done. Black ink outlines with color pencil interior color? Do you want to draw the ink outlines separate from the color pencil and bring them into the computer together? Explore how these can work together. Think patterns, type, layout and most important have fun and think creatively.

The assignment is to create your own interoperation of 3 words that I have provided.
How do you show visually examples of the words love, fast and anxious.
(please no hearts, cheetahs running and other stereotypes. think creativity.)

Each illustration should be an 8x8 inch square.
